't Kraempje van Lokeren

"That's how we're known in the area around Kruiningen," say Dick and Rina Lokerse about their fruit and vegetable stall on the Achterwegje. In a neat, well-organised display — or as they say in Zeeland, 't Kraempje (the little stand) — they present a wide range of vegetables, fruit and juices.

"Our strength is that we have apples, pears and strawberries almost all year round, largely grown on our own farm." The apples are Elstar, the pears Conference and the strawberries Elsanta. "Those are the tastiest strawberries, with great flavour."

Dick started with his own small plot of land while still a schoolboy. Slowly the business grew, and with it the sales. "And all of that without a website, social media or advertising."

For cyclists and other visitors there are picnic benches, a small playground and a trampoline. A lovely resting point at 't Kraempje in Kruiningen.
