Storytelling Bench Anna-Friso

On the dike near campsite Anna-Friso stands a storytelling bench. It's a lovely spot to pause (and/or sit) and take in the landscape and its history. From the bench you have a beautiful view of the Oosterschelde and the Oosterscheldekering. Through panels and audio you can listen to the past of this area. Here you can read and listen about the resurgence of Noord-Beveland in 1598, after a period when the entire island had drowned. The eternal struggle against the water, and the symbol of that struggle: the Oosterscheldekering and the Delta Works. But also about special places on the island and its inhabitants — farmers and labourers who lived a hard life.
The storytelling bench is a place to look, read, listen and experience. The light and the tide are different every hour. Come back at an unusual time, early in the morning or at dusk. The Oosterschelde is different every time.
