Elenbaas Farm Vending Machine

About this location
Along the Quarlespolderweg lies the Sloekreek, a reminder of the waterway that once separated Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland. The Sloe was dammed in 1871 for the Roosendaal–Vlissingen railway, and the Quarlespolder itself was not embanked until 1949. Along this road you'll find the striking farm vending machine of Coert Elenbaas, recognisable by its large apple and pear sculpture. But it's much more than an ordinary machine: inside a modern, well-organised barn you'll find a wide range of produce, much of it from the farm's own orchard. Apple varieties include Delcorf, Elstar, Wellant, Jonagold and Goudreinet, alongside pears such as Doyenné du Comice, Conference and Gieser Wildeman. Coert also makes several fruit juices from his own apples, including apple-strawberry, apple-elderberry and apple-raspberry. The range extends to strawberries, homemade jam, plums, potatoes, onions and eggs. Coert represents the third generation on this fruit farm. Outside the machine there's a picnic bench and a small play area — a lovely spot to take a break.
