The Fish Auction of Colijnsplaat

For years the fish auction at Colijnsplaat harbour was the hub of the Zeeland fish trade: catches were landed, inspected and sold by open bid.

In the second half of the 20th century, Colijnsplaat grew into a major landing harbour for shrimps, shellfish and sea fish.

In the early 21st century the traditional auction structure gave way to direct sales and industry consolidation. The building was preserved and found a fitting new tenant in Crustalicious, specialists in processing crab into seafood delicacies.
