About this route

Through ‘De Manteling’ you go, a slim sliver of proud woodland along the north Walcheren coast. The stiff sea breeze has made trees grow entwined here, like lovers. The route carries you through artists’ haven Domburg and past the stately homes in De Manteling woods. Royalty of Russia and Germany were the first to dip their dainty regal toes in the Domburg sea, a century ago, followed by Toorop and Mondriaan, and other kings of the art world. The elegant beach pavilion brings back memories of those days.
From Domburg the route winds its way to the woods of De Manteling, where 17th-century nouveau riche picked the best spots for their country pile. And there’s a Medieval castle, and the top museum in Zeeland on nature and culture: Terra Maris.
