Delta Buffalo

It's not exactly what you'd expect in Zeeland: water buffalo. Yet you'll find them along the Jacobadijk in Kamperland, at water buffalo farm Delta Buffalo, run by Judith and Niek Vermeer. Their small farm shop sells special buffalo products such as buffalo yoghurt, buffalo custard, buffalo kefir and buffalo cream.
Fans of Italian cheese are in for a treat too. The farm makes mozzarella di bufala, burrata, ricotta and bocconcini, among others. There's also a whole range of buffalo meat products, from mince and burgers to T-bone and veal escalopes. And for something really special, there's buffalo bonbons or buffalo ice cream.
So Zeeland has unexpectedly gained a touch of Italy and Asia. There are few places where so many special buffalo products come together.
Outside the winter months you can see the water buffalo out in the meadow. They're curious animals and enjoy being watched. On Fridays, when they're kept indoors, you can look into the barn from the shop. A surprising piece of international Zeeland!
