Why are vending machines on the farm of Esther and Peter Vermue? "We want to tell the story of our farm and what farming means," says Esther. There are few farms in the area and demand for their products kept growing. An important one is milk from their own cows — hence the milk tap. "Our milk is creamier than factory milk, where cream is skimmed off and the milk is heated." Those who taste it rarely want anything else.

More and more people, including young ones, are choosing unprocessed food. That is why yoghurt, quark and kefir from cheese farm Westplaat were added. Cheese and farm ice cream, with flavours like yoghurt-orange and yoghurt-cherry, are also available.

For meat, they work with the Gijzel brothers in Sluiskil. Their sheep and cattle roam outdoors and receive no antibiotics.

Esther has one clear wish: "Let us start eating with the seasons again."
