Near the Zeeland Bridge stands the striking production hall of The Kingfish Company, where yellowtail kingfish is raised.
The company is an innovative and sustainable aquaculture business with facilities in the Netherlands and the US state of Maine. The fish grow in filtered Eastern Scheldt water and receive organic feed — no antibiotics or hormones.
Part of the energy comes from wind and solar power, and fish welfare is a priority. In Japan the fish is known as hiramasa or hamachi.
