Wijngoed Zilte Trots Vineyard

About this location

Zeeland, wine country. For several decades now, the number of vineyards in the Netherlands has been growing, including in Zeeland. The wine border is shifting northwards, and Zeeland also has the most sunshine hours in the Netherlands. Soils that are suitable for fruit growing also turn out to be excellent for viticulture: after all, grapes are fruit too.

In viticulture, everything revolves around terroir: the interplay of soil, climate, sunshine hours, water management, location and craftsmanship.

That is the experience of Simon and Joan Bruijnooge of Wijngoed Zilte Trots in Yerseke. Their vineyard is situated on a narrow creek ridge with sandy loam soil. In 2019, they exchanged their pear orchard for five thousand grapevines. The name suits Yerseke: Zilte Trots (Salty Pride). In 2025, they opened an atmospheric wine room. Solaris, Johanniter and Souvignier Gris yield refined white wines, alongside a Zeeland Brut produced using the traditional method.

Passion and Zeeland terroir come together here in the glass.
